Product Tabs
Unique Tabs
Using the Rich Text Editor in the product admin, you can format your text.
When you open the demo product in your Avenue theme, you will see a unique tab titled 'Heading 6 Tab'. Refer to the editor and HTML view to see how this is set up.
Shared Tabs
Within the theme editor, there is the option to add Product Pages Content Blocks that will add common tabs like return or contact information to ALL products.
Banner Images
Banner images are set in the product admin. Upload your banner image and edit the alt text to include the product title and the word Background. The example used in the demo product:
- Title: Avenue Demo Product
- Alt text: Avenue Demo Product Background
This image will not appear in your thumbnail list.
When you view the demo product in your Avenue theme, you will see a man wearing a v-neck t-shirt in the banner image. Refer to this image in the admin to see how the alt text needs to be formatted.
Filtering
Avenue uses product tags added in the admin to filter products on the Collection Page & the Home Page Advanced Filter. Per Shopify "Tags are searchable keywords associated with your product. Tags can help customers find your product through your online store search, and you can also use them to create automated collections".
Collection Page Filters
Tags can be used for a number of reasons, but to use them to filter products you must follow a simple structure: Group_Title.
When viewing the demo product admin, you will notice 7 tags with underscores:
- Color_Red
- Color_Grey
- Color_Green
- Color_Blue
- Color_Black
- Brand_Keystone
- Type_T Shirt
These will create filters on any collection that features the demo product. The 'related-' tags are used to Relate Products
Home Page Advanced Filter
The same underscore formatted tags are used to set up the Advanced Filter on the homepage
Related Products
Related products are set in the product admin using product tags. Using the handle of the product you want to add as a related product, add 'related-' to the beginning, and add that as a tag to the host products.
When viewing the demo product admin, you will notice 4 tags with 'related-':
- related-plaid-boxers
- related-cowboy-hat
- related-basic-dress-belt
- related-aviator-sunglasses
If these products existing in your store, the Avenue Demo Product would have 4 'Related' products.
